New Orleans-American City?

New Orleans is behaving more like a French city, and that is meant as an insult.  What happened to self reliance? Americans can usually figure out a way to tackle any problem, New Orleans can't.  Just sit there and whine for more Federal dollars to waste while Mississippi runs rings around you. If the NFL team decides to stay there, they should re-name themselves the" New Orleans Losers"

Run Scared

I heard Tom DeLay say he was glad to see Republicans running scared, because that is the best way to run.  I agree.  I think Republicans should realize how disappointed many voters are with them and consider themselves very lucky if, with a lot of work in the next two months, they can maintain control of Congress.
   They should immediately change their ways, drop the arrogance of power and start working toward the next election. If National defense saves us this time and we do nothing, we will lose bigtime once the threat to our security diminishes.
   They should apologize to voters , because they have made it harder to re-elect them by their often selfish and cowardly behavior.  Term limits should be re- instated.  Much Pork Barrell spending is done in order to re-elect the incumbent, term limits make this less important.   Let's give 110% to get these bums elected again, even though they are totally unworthy, only because the alternative is much worse.

Outlaw Court

Why should one Judge on one Circuit Court be allowed to declare anything Unconstitutional ?   Marshall invented Judicial review and it seems to have worked and has wide support, but The Supreme Court should be the only one that can rule on matters that affect the whole country.

Oil or Money

Who is in the driver's seat, those who have oil, or those who have the money to buy it? Seller or buyer?  If the buyer is willing to pay the price, he will  have the oil he needs. Crude Oil reserves keep going up as more is found than is used.  Other forms of energy could take a chunk out of the demand .  When the oil sellers manage to get the price up, pay it and more will come on to the market and the price will go down. Commodity prices are notorious for this type of behavior. If we aren't willing to pay the going price at any given time, some producers will leave the oil in the ground. So pay, and they will find a way to pump.

It's Us

I've spent so much time and effort trying to convince Americans on the left that  traditional American values make good sense and shouldn't be thrown out wholesale just for the sake of "change", with so little success, I've become convinced that the values themselves aren't the problem.  My sister and her family live much more conservatively than I and my family do, but spout extreme leftist values.  I usually put it this way, she would never rob a Bank, but she would make excuses for anyone who did.
   I sometimes think if those of us who now support traditional values switched to leftist values,  todays leftists would switch too,  I'm not sure they like us. They don't seem to want to be identified with us. I try to explain that the fact that I agree with most  traditional American values doesn't mean I have never questioned them. I have. I questioned them, in fact continually question them, and see great value in  them.  Questioning is not synonimous with rejecting.
   Count me as puzzuled.

Pay Forward

It would be great if the countries of the European Union ,having received Freedom compliments The British Empire  and The United States, would sense some obligation to spread Freedom.  It's strange the Germans don't approve us doing for Iraq exactly what we did for them, i.e. remove a vile dictator and set them up to run their own country.  It would be nice to have others whom we have helped, help us help others.  I'd like to see the day when Americans can stay home while Freedom spreads throughout the World.

World minus US

Maybe some Americans doubt their own country  because it is almost unbelievable how much good The United States has done over the last Century.  Who knows what condition the World would be in now if there were no United States during the 20th Century.  Nazis, Communists, and Islamofacists might have the World divided up among themselves, the better to torment the human race.

The Unthinkable

The Bolsheviks sabotaged their own country in WW I so they could take over  what was left after the defeat by the Germans. The American led defeat of the Germans on the Western Front within  a year  saved Russia from losing about a fifth of its land area to the Germans.
   So it's not unthinkable for a political party to help defeat its own country in the hope  that they can take power.

43,000

43,000 people are killed on the streets and highways of America each year. That compares to about 850 in Iraq  per year.  Our Soldiers are dying for something they and I  believe in, those on the roads for nothing.
   Maybe in honor of those who give thier lives in Iraq to protect us at home, we could slow down the carnage here.  Could we save 850 lives per year with some patience , attentiveness, and high regard for our own lives and those of  the other people on our roads?  I think it would be easy.

Cyber War

    I wonder how much damage we could do to an enemy nation by scrambling their computers.
No physical damage would be required. Whatever can be done, can probably be done once only, and anything that the enemy knows about in advance can be countered, so if we have any capability in this area, it would be wise to keep it secret. I hope we have a big Ace in the hole in this respect.

How to Lose

    Donna Brazile says "If you lose, you lose".  Has the Campaign manager of the Gore -Lieberman Campaign finally thrown in the towel and admitted defeat in 2000?  No. She was saynig Joe Liberman should recognize he lost to Ned Lamont and get out of the race for Senator in 2006.  If Joe is a true Democarat, he will continue the tradition of not only 2000 but 2004, and never admit defeat.

   Who is to answer for the world?  A few people make themselves comfortable at the expense of millions.  Justice? Let's stop settling for this horror.  The UN is 95% dictatorships.  The first step is to call them what they are, i.e. thje problem.

   Is there anyone in the world who wouldn't trade whatever ciitzenship they have for US citizenship? Probably a few dummies who value their elite position in their countries. For any ordinary person, US Citizenship is the Holy Grail

Hellhole

   Some say we are more hated in the world than ever.  I think we are more the focus of the worlds's hope and respect . No one will say on camera that they are  praying that the United States succeeds in remaking the world in its own image.  Reality: most of the world is a hellhole, anyone with half a brain wants to come to the United States, if not they dream their country will become like the US.

Need Bigger Tent

The Dems big tent is not big enough to include Joe Lieberman.  When you need room for every idiot that hates America, there isn't room for a Patriot who loves it.  I don't know that I could ever vote for Joe, because National Defense is the only issue on which I agree with him, and that not entirely.  If Joe votes 95% or better Democrat, the room in the tent must be at a premium to exclude him.
